The ECOWAS Court of Justice has rejected former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo’s request for interim measures to suspend the work of the committee investigating her removal from office.
In its ruling on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the Court stated that while Justice Torkornoo had presented a prima facie case of human rights violations, she did not prove the urgency necessary for the Court to issue temporary orders halting the committee’s proceedings.
