Cameroon's President, Paul Biya, the world’s oldest sitting leader, has been declared the winner of the country’s presidential election, securing 53.66% of the vote, according to official results announced on Monday by the Constitutional Council.
The announcement of the results comes just a day after violent protests erupted in the country’s economic capital, Douala, where four protesters were killed and over 100 others arrested.
The 92-year old, who has been in power since 1982, will now extend his rule until 2032 with this re-election.
